SmartFlow has created a revolutionary series of molecules that turns Hydrocarbon Newtonian Fluids, constant viscosity under force, into a non-Newton fluids where the viscosity changes with force. A Reynolds number is a ratio of inertial forces to viscous forces. When dissolved in a hydrocarbon, this proprietary molecule will reduce the Reynolds number of the fluid. The molecule self assembles in the hydrocarbon and has the ability to create and maintain a level of viscosity over a wide range of temperatures, high shear and extreme pressure environments.
As shear is applied the viscosity of the fluid approaches the theoretical minimum for that fluid, which is seen as a pressure drop or reduced friction of flow.

Dr. Johannes Heckmann
Dr. Johannes Heckmann is a co-founder of Sinova Specialties, a company credited with commercially developing the manufacturing process for the SmartFlow family of chemicals. He holds an MBA in Marketing and a PhD in Organic Chemistry.
Dr. Shaun Mesher
Dr. Shaun Mesher has a BSc in Biochemistry from McGill University and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. In charge of R&D at a company he co-founded, SynOil Fluid Inc., he has 25+ US patents most notably recent patents based around the SmartFlo molecules.
Dr. Ken Chong
Dr. Ken Chong, 25+ years oil and gas industry experience, consulting and teaching on oil and gas production and processing, invited lectures and training for Enform, CAPPA, CSHM, SPE. He holds PhD in Applied Chemistry and MBA degrees from the University of Calgary, and a NSERC PDF.
Yan (Ellen) Liu
Ms. Ellen Liu, 20+ years of management experience in the chemical industry including QHSE, logistics, business development and financing, and over 15 years of experience in corporate management. She holds an MBA from Tsinghua University and graduated with a Bachelor of Statistics from Renmin University of China.
Dr. Chris Collett
Dr. Chris Collett conducted the research into new fluid chemistries that lead to the discovery of the SmartFlo technology. He holds both Master’s and PhD degrees in Organic Chemistry from St. Andrews University, Scotland.
